The monthly costs for room & board will range from approximately $2,500 – $6,000 per month. Most of the time there are additional care charges based on an individual needs. These additional cost can range from $0 – $2,500 per month. Some communities monthly charges include care, in other words there are no additional fees for care.
We find that you generally get what you pay for when it comes to the aesthetics and care quality of a community. Our average client will spend a total of approximately $4,500 – $5,000 per month for room, board, and care at a community. It is our goal to find you a community that you will be able to afford for years to come.
There is also generally a one-time community fee required upon move-in. This fee is for the community to recoup cost for updating, cleaning and making your room ready for you. The average cost is approximately $2,750, which is a one-time fee.
It is a good practice to plan for your aging/retirement. Unfortunately, many individuals come to us with no savings and a low monthly income, and we are unable to help them based on the costs above. In certain circumstances we can advise you to apply for Veterans or Medicaid benefits, please see the next FAQs tab ‘are there other ways to pay for care’ for more information.
If you or your spouse is a wartime veteran, then we can advise you on possibly receiving Aid and Attendance benefits through the Veterans Administration.
If your income and savings are limited, we can advise you on applying for possible Medicaid benefits that will help pay the monthly costs of an assisted living community.
What is the difference between independent living, assisted living, memory care, and a nursing home?
Independent living communities(IL) are ideal for adults who are self-sufficient, active, and looking to simplify their lifestyle. They often include three prepared meals per day and weekly housekeeping services.
Assisted living facilities (ALF) are ideal for adults who are somewhat self-sufficient, active, and looking to simplify their lifestyle. These individuals need assistance with some activities of daily living from caregivers. They include three prepared meals per day and weekly housekeeping services. Some assisted living communities offer secured Memory Care. This specific level of care is for individuals that may need assistance due to memory and cognitive decline.
A nursing home, also known as a skilled nursing facility (SNF), is a preferable alternative for seniors who require extensive rehab or sub-acute care. This is generally a step-down from acute hospital care.
Of course, resident’s families and friends are allowed to pay them visits. However, due to security concerns, you will most likely be required to check in at the front desk. We will help you understand the visiting hours and process when we tour communities with you. Most communities allow 24/7 visiting of your loved one.
We usually urge that you tour any assisted living community that you are seriously considering, even if it is not necessary. This is the most effective technique to ensure that it is a great fit for your loved one. Brochures, advertising, and online descriptions are frequently an inaccurate presentation of what the community truly offers.
Visiting the community in person not only provides a realistic impression of the comfort, social life, personnel, location, amenities, and so on, but it also helps you to look for major safety or sanitary issues that would otherwise be impossible to detect.
We will be there to tour with you to ensure you are finding out all the needed information to make a successful transition for you or your loved one.
Assisted living communities are open to seniors who wish to maintain independence while having access to assistance when required. These facilities provide dining options, housekeeping services, various activities, and other personal care services when needed.
Our Senior Care Advisors guide individuals and their families through choosing the correct services to meet their needs. They can also help families budget for senior care services, including assisted living and more.
Some assisted living communities offer memory care for seniors with dementia and Alzheimer’s. They may also provide rehabilitation services to help individuals recover after an illness or injury.
The monthly cost of assisted living can range from $2500 to $7000, depending on your needs. The monthly fee covers the living space and other community amenities.
We encourage our residents to bring furniture and personal items to outfit their apartments. We want you to feel at home.
