Eligibility Requirements

  • Must have served at least 90 days of active duty with at least one day during a period of war.
  • Must not have been dishonorably discharged.

  • A surviving spouse must have been married to the veteran at the time of his passing, and not remarried unless to a wartime veteran.

  • Must require the assistance of another person to perform at least two activities of daily living. Ex. Bathing, dressing, eating, toileting transferring.

  • Must meet income and countable asset criteria established by the VA. Income and net worth must meet certain limits set by congress.

  • Must be 65 years and older or totally disabled.

Eligibility Periods of War

World War II

December, 7th 1941-December, 3rd 1946, continous sefrvice before July 26th, 1947, is considered World War II service.

Korean Conflict

June 27, 1050 – January 31, 1955

Vietnam Era

The period beginning on February 28th, 1961, and ending on MY 7, 1975 Veterans who served in the Republic of Vietnam during that period. The period beginning on August5, 1964, to May 7, 1975

Persian Gulf

August 2, 1990, through date to be prescribed by Presidential proclamation.
