When visiting a loved one, or when you have a loved one living with you with dementia, be sure to always talk face-to-face and look them in the eyes. Do not tap them from behind or try to talk them from behind, because they really need to be able to focus on what you are saying.

Be calm and patient, and understand what they’re going through, even though, I know sometimes it is very difficult.

Engage in activities that the person would enjoy, such as soothing music or looking at a photo album.
