What’s the Difference Between Skilled Nursing & Assisted Living?

Skilled nursing is almost like a hospital. It’s a stepdown from hospital. So the skilled care, they have 24-hour nursing for more of those higher needs for families. It’s one of the places that I do not always recommend to be the first place, especially if they are higher functioning, because they need to thrive in an environment that makes the most sense for them. Assisted living, they’re there to help with any of your care needs.

However, you’re doing a lot more on your own and you’re there just asking for help as needed and it feels more like a home-like environment and it’s your apartment. So you fix up the community, the apartment to your liking and what you’re used to.
